Mobile App Development with .NET MAUI
University-Approved (Unpaid)
Smallsoft builds modern software systems at the intersection of identity infrastructure and AI-powered applications. As part of our commitment to student development and industry collaboration, we offer a limited number of structured Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placements focused on cross-platform mobile development using .NET MAUI.
This placement is educational in nature, non-commercial, and unpaid. It is available only to students enrolled in a university WIL unit and becomes effective subject to formal approval by the relevant university and completion of a tripartite agreement (Student–University–Smallsoft) prior to commencement.
The Placement
Participants will gain structured exposure to the full lifecycle of mobile application development through supervised educational projects that simulate professional workflows.
You will actively design and build a guided .NET MAUI demo application, applying:
- MVVM architecture principles
- REST API integration
- UI/UX refinement
- AI API experimentation in sandbox environments
- Performance optimisation and testing
All activities take place in non-production environments.
No proprietary production systems are accessed, and participants do not perform productive work for commercial gain or replace paid employees.
Requirements
Essential:
- Foundational programming knowledge (C# preferred)
- Basic understanding of object-oriented principles
- Interest in mobile application development
- Willingness to learn structured development practices
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset
Preferred:
- Prior exposure to .NET or .NET MAUI
- Familiarity with REST APIs
- Basic understanding of MVVM concepts
- Experience using Git
- Interest in AI-driven applications
We value curiosity, technical clarity, and thoughtful engineering over formal titles or years of experience. Students who demonstrate strong learning ability and disciplined thinking will benefit most from this placement.
Learning Outcomes

Duration
Aligned with the university’s WIL requirements (typically 8–12 weeks).

Applicants must:
- Be enrolled in a university program
- Require WIL placement for academic credit
- Obtain formal university approval prior to commencement
Placements proceed only after university confirmation and formal agreement.
